GROCON: The Hyde

Grocon / ‘The Hyde’, Liverpool Street, Sydney: A ‘vertical challenge’ is the best term used to describe this project. Spread over two stages, the major aspect of this project was the north facing vertical gardens which sits 1,500mm out from the building. It was constructed from grating-style steel trellises with 168 custom made planted pots all the way up, creating a green garden effect & a visual continuation of the Park opposite. These self watering pots were all individually irrigated and drained. Other areas also included but not shown in the photographs were to the landscape planters to the Penthouse areas & planter boxes to the podium courtyards raised 5 metres above ground level. Part of this entire task was designing & constructing an automatic irrigation & fertilizing system which has concealed pipelines connecting all planted areas to a main control system.
