In the middle of 2011, Hargraves Landscapes undertook construction of the Karuah Park Outdoor Fitness Circuit for Ku-ring-gai Council in Turramurra. We were very pleased to be awarded the contract based in part on recognition of our strong environmental credentials given that the site was bounded by an environmetally important creek line. The park upgrade included the supply and installation of significant features such as:

• Outdoor fitness circuit around the park
• Stabilised decomposed granite paths connecting the entry points and features
• Five fitness equipment stations
• New bubbler & seating
• Reconstruction of Cricket Nets area
• Design and construction of a Pedestrian footbridge across creek
• Field drainage with a drainage outlet to Lovers Jump Creek
• Installation of riprap rock stabilised drainage structure to prevent bank erosion
• Grassed berm and shallow detention area adjacent to fence line to control excess surface water and promote nutrient absorption and sediment control
• Restructuring of Park entry points to better define entries for pedestrian & vehicle access
• Addressing soil compaction and erosion issues and also maintain, preserve and help regenerate surrounding vegetated areas.

Working within our strict environmental policy ensured that the area was not damaged in any way during construction and the process of improvement and regeneration has been given a strong boost and the primary objective of enhancing the use of the park has been realised.

In late April 2011, Hargraves Landscapes undertook construction of the upgrades to Jubilee Park on behalf of Parramatta City Council which included the following significant features:

•	Extensive detailed tree and feature landscape planting
•	Extensive pavement treatments including: sandblasted exposed aggregate pavements and seating walls
•	Porous paving
•	Sandstone pavement banding; and new concrete pedestrian pathways
•	Low feature brick walls with sandstone cladding to the Parkes Street frontage
•	New pedestrian lighting including tree uplights
•	New furniture upgrades, including seats, bins, bollards, benches, drinking fountain and fencing
•	New low planting gardens & open space turf areas

Due to the relatively heavy use by & access way that the park was used for by pedetrians, all appropriate traffic & pedestrian management strategies put in place throughout the construction period of the project. The project was completed as per the program and the quality of the final product exceeded expectations.
